To prevent the unauthorized slaughter and sale of pork, Malaysian veterinary authorities have issued an order to monitor the number of pigs raised domestically by attaching an RFID tag to each of them, the France-Presse news agency reports.

Using the RFID system, the Malaysian Ministry of Health is also going to investigate cases related to the sale of meat that is not suitable for consumption quality.

The security system, which is expected to be implemented by mid-year, will require the Ministry of Health to monitor the number of pigs raised on each farm and compare it with the number of pigs processed in slaughterhouses licensed for slaughter.
