In Nürburgring, Germany, a motorsport organization has installed an RFID-based solution to identify cars that exceed noise limits and require immediate inspection.

Using Identec Solutions' SensorSMART platform, the networked RFID system effectively measures noise levels emitted by racing cars in real time. A special list of cars that already have an update in the form of an RFID chip with the relevant information is created on the internet server.

The SensorSMART platform consists of active RFID tags, sensors, readers, and software for network applications. All racing cars are equipped with an Identec Solutions sensor, which transmits an identification number every 0.5 seconds.

With this high-speed solution, Nürburg intends to fully automate stations for collecting and analyzing the intensity of noise emitted. Automatic detection reduces administrative costs and provides real-time control, allowing for immediate action to address the situation.
