RFID in the oil and gas industry
Omni-ID and C-Logistics have partnered to create RFID technology for tracking pipes, leased equipment, and other assets found in the ground of oil and/or gas producers, as well as for offshore logistics operations.

Photo 1 Omni-ID and C-Logistics have jointly createdRFID technology for tracking pipes, rented equipment and other property found in the ground of an oil and/or gas producer, as well as for conducting logistics operations on the high seas.

Omni-ID Solo is a passive RFID tag made of durable material, operating at ultra-high frequencies and over a long distance. Designed specifically to locate assets that are part of the open supply chain for both onshore and offshore drilling rigs, Omni-ID Pipe is a shock-resistant, life-limited RFID tag that operates at ultra-high frequencies. It is used on pipes of various diameters. Designed to withstand the conditions in which pipes and cylinders are stored and transported.

The new tags provide real-time information, which helps make the distribution and delivery of equipment from docks, warehouses, and special sites to the site of combustible material extraction more efficient.

Both RFID tags comply with the EPC Gen 2 standard for passive tags, which was established by the global standards organization EPC Global.

Several companies in the Americas, Brazil, and Denmark are already successfully using this technology.
