In a month, the capital's metro will have newspaper vending machines called "Mediamats". This is an exclusively Ukrainian development. Externally, the "Mediamat" will be a display case placed directly on the wall of the station, and a machine in the middle, which will beequipped with a touch screen— With its help, customers will quickly select the publications they need.

Customers will be able to pay for their purchase at the machine, and the operator will issue a receipt for the paid newspapers or magazines. According to the owners of the machines, the operators will be former workers of the newspaper stands, they will not lose anything in terms of salary. “If the newspapers are quickly sold out, the machine will immediately give a signal, and the operator will replenish the display case,” says Anna Shkolnaya, director of the Niva-95 enterprise.

Over time, machines will be at all stations, and at the stations “Geroev Dnepra”, “Teatralnaya”, “Levoberezhnaya” two at once.

“These machines are very convenient for customers, because they will depend only on the operating hours of the stations. This excludes lunch breaks, weekends and holidays, newspapers can be bought late in the evening when you return home,” says Shkolnaya. Unlike the layouts, the display cases will not interfere with the passage of passengers, which is what the metro insisted on. The cost of printed products will not increase, the owners of the machines promise.

Newspaper machinesbegan to appear in Moscow as early as 2004. The first machines were installed at the expense of the Moscow government.
