Android-Box devices are primarily designed for multimedia playback. They are used for watching movies online or locally through connected data carriers. However, these functions can be extended to include traditional television – for this, equipment with a digital TV tuner is necessary. This allows us to quickly switch to watching our favorite channel at any time while browsing the internet or playing simple games.

In the review, I will describe an Android-Box device calledVenBOX ITV-K1in the version with a terrestrial digital TV tuner in the DVB-T2 standard.

Packaging and contents of the set

The box we received is made of cardboard with a white finish. It consists of a top lid and a bottom connected to the middle to hold the lid in place. Along the entire length of the box runs a shiny ribbon, which is an extension of the letter K motif on the top of the packaging. The general specifications of the device are placed on the bottom. On one of the short sides, there are graphics of XBMC, Google Play Store, and the name of the H.265 HEVC codec. The box, with its aesthetic appearance, seems to present nicely as a gift.

After removing the top part, we see the inside of the box finished in blue. The area is divided into a space for the Android box (fitted into a cut foam) and a cover for the rest of the accessories. In the initially hidden space, the remote control, power adapter, HDMI cable, and manual are stored.

The set includes:

A black Android box, made mostly of plastic. The device has a rectangular cuboid shape with sharply beveled edges on top. Its size is slightly larger than the test VenBOX ITV-MXQ. The visible sides and top have a matte surface, while the beveled areas are glossy. The model logo K1 is printed on the top.

The diode, which also serves as the device's power switch, extends from the left edge to the indentation on the top. When the device is operating normally, it glows bright blue; in sleep mode, it lights up red.

On the left side panel, we have all 4 standard USB ports and a Micro SD card slot. At the back, the rest of the connectors are placed: antenna input and output, 3.5mm jack (four-pin – video output and stereo sound), RJ45 Ethernet port, HDMI input, optical SPDIF audio output, and power plug.

The bottom part has 4 small rubber feet and numerous holes to facilitate device ventilation. A tiny hole on the bottom of the casing allows pressing the hidden recovery button. The manufacturer has provided the option to hang the K1 on the wall using two shaped holes.

2. Dedicated pilot

Quite light, made of black plastic – the upper part additionally has a brushed aluminum-style texture, which prevents fingerprints from showing. The remote is fairly long – 17.5 cm, but it has many buttons that facilitate operating the decoder's functions. In this case, the numeric keys placed at the bottom are useful (also allowing text input in the same style as on standard mobile phones).

The remote control has a mouse button that switches the remote into cursor control mode using the arrow keys. This solution is not as convenient as the Air-Mouse mode used in other controllers, but it can be useful occasionally.

The DTV button is also worth noting, as it instantly launches the application for operating the TV tuner. Thanks to this, even a person without experience in using an Android Box can enjoy watching TV.
