Google has removed over 80 malicious apps from the Play Store.

According to o2.pl, Google has removed as many as 85 apps from its app store. This is the result of an investigation by experts from Trend Micro. Dangerous software was lurking among popular selfie apps, games, and other programs.

Recently, there has been a growing discussion about the dangers associated with applications that are extremely popular among internet users. For example, there has been a lot of talk about the FaceApp app, which allows users to edit photos—change hair color, gender, and even age. Based on the appearance of a person in a photo, artificial intelligence can estimate what they will look like in several decades. A number of photos have appeared online that have been "aged" by the app. The vast majority of users, however, don't realize that by using it, they're sharing a lot of their data.

Google has removed 85 apps

Now, information has emerged that as many as 85 apps have disappeared from the Play Store.Their files contained a dangerous virus that blocked the phone until the user viewed an ad.This could last up to five minutes and reappear repeatedly. Among the app's files was "AndroidOS Hidenad.HRXH."

This type of malware is characterized by being difficult to detect. It tricks virus detection algorithms. It only starts running once it verifies that it has been recognized as a safe app. This usually takes about 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, the user may be unable to uninstall the app because the launch link has been replaced with an app shortcut. The only option left is to manually remove it through the Play Store or settings. However, this isn't easy, as an ad can appear at any time, lasting up to 5 minutes.

In total, they have been downloaded over 8 million times, so it's worth checking if you have them on your phone.
