During our tests, we paid attention to the speed of file playback. Files on powerful (compared to the PDM08H) processors open much faster, and the loading of files that are played in a "loop" is unnoticeable. But that's not the main thing.
With the increased demands for file playback in public places (stores, pharmacies, airports, train stations, gyms, exhibitions, museums, open-air discos, concerts, etc.), there is a need to play online files. This is impossible in multimedia players without operating systems. Connecting to the device via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi is also missing. This list can go on and on...
In any case, each device will perform its functions perfectly. You just need to correctly match your needs and the capabilities of the device. But one thing can be said - Mini PCs with Windows / Android / iOS OS are more versatile in use. Such devices allow you to play files more professionally. Control via Bluetooth headset, connection to the Internet via WiFi or RJ-45 cable, playback of 4K files, creation of slideshows directly on the Mini PC - these are not all the features that distinguish these devices.
