The new version of the system is currently only available for Pixel devices (Google's own brand).As Ars Technica writes, the next Android smartphones will not support Nexus 5 and Nexus 6P, as well as the Pixel C tablet.
The Verge highlights some of the innovations of the next version of Android. In particular, the system provides a customizable display interface that also lets you control the space on the sides of the front notch. This is useful for makers of smartphones with a «monobrow» (notch at the top of the display).
The first gadget with a «monobrow» was the iPhone X, in February Bloomberg reported that Google plans to add support for notches at the top of the display to its OS. As The Verge notes, this is not the only similarity between Android P and Apple products. For example, notifications about new messages are similar to iMessage messages.
There is no name for the new Android yet. Usually, Google names the operating system after sweets. The latest version of Android is called Oreo, the previous one is Nougat.
