Watching videos and listening to music is a very small part of what you can do with this device thanks to Android.
For this reason, a new class of devices began to be called Android TV Box - a small TV set-top box, the capabilities of which are so significant that they create competition for a home computer.
But compared to a regular computer, Android TV Box has a more compact size, which allows you to hide it right behind the TV, has an intuitive interface, which can be controlled with a couple of buttons on the remote control.
How did this happen?
The Android operating system, thanks to its versatility and convenience, has pushed aside other mobile operating systems, taking a dominant position first in the smartphone market, and then in the tablet market. And now Android OS has entered the market of media players and TV set-top boxes.
And media players have long ceased to be just devices for watching videos and listening to music. Even in inexpensive player models, developers add at least a few network services, and the latest firmware versions for advanced players include a fairly rich set of additional services and applications, for example, a torrent client, Internet radio, Internet TV, a web browser, YouTube. But a beautiful and competent implementation of advanced features is far from always possible...
The transition to the Android software platform allowed us to solve several problems at once. For example, it became possible to use ready-made programs - video players, which makes it possible to quickly solve a problem with any format without having to wait for new firmware from the manufacturer. In addition to video players, there are many other programs that can be downloaded and used, optimizing the capabilities of the media player for your specific needs.
As a set-top box for a TV, Android TV Box allows you to view media files in FullHD quality from both a local and a network drive, a huge variety of games, including 3D. Android TV Box can also be useful if installed in a car - it can be connected to the monitor of a standard TV, in addition, the device can be used as a reference and navigation system with Internet access.
You can look at the specific devices in detail, but, as a rule, Android TV Boxes are equipped with an HDMI port, an Ethernet network port, a component video output, an analog stereo output, a coaxial SPDIF output, a Wi-Fi antenna, and a connector for an external power source.
A remote control is used to control the device, but a very unusual one - it combines two devices at the same time: a wireless QWERTY keyboard and a "pointer" that allows you to move the cursor around the screen.
Operation in pointer mode is based on the built-in G-sensor, which allows you to convert the movement of the device in space and the movement of the cursor on the screen.
