What devices can be connected to a TV set-top box?

The advent of TV boxes has significantly expanded the capabilities of standard TV models, freeing owners from the need to replace them. But advanced users are not limited to the main purpose of set-top boxes and often use them in tandem with a monitor. Moreover, the connection is carried out both to new models equipped with HDMI connectors, and to outdated ones.

Features of connecting a monitor and a TV box

In the first case, the procedure is no different from working with a TV. In the second case, a regular cable connection will not do. You will need to use a special HDMI-VGA or HDMI-DVI adapter. One end of it connects to the set-top box, and the other to the monitor. However, the normal operation of such a tandem cannot be guaranteed for a number of reasons, including the use of HDCP technology. Therefore, experienced set-top box users prefer to connect them to monitors using a signal converter.

In addition to new and old TV models, as well as monitors, you can also connect peripheral devices to TV set-top boxes:

  • mouse;
  • keyboard;
  • gamepad.

USB ports are most often used for this. Another connection option is possible - via wireless interfaces: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, present in almost all modern TV box models.
