A prototype of a specialized machine has been installed at the Kyiv-Passenger station next to the ticket office for servicing passengers who purchased travel documents through the E-Kvitok system.

Until now, the E-Kvitok automated system for booking and selling train tickets online allowed for seat reservations, but with printing and receiving documents at the ticket office. "With the introduction of the E-Kvitok ticket sales service, Ukrzaliznytsia has launched a new phase in expanding its travel document sales technology. However, due to the fact that Ukrainian law requires strict accountability documents and does not allow passengers to go directly to the train with a ticket purchased online, separate ticket offices were set up at major stations where passengers can obtain a printed ticket on a standard form. Today, we have automated this procedure. Now, passengers, without going to the railway ticket office, can quickly and independently print a travel document using a terminal using the number or the order barcode. This procedure takes 30-40 seconds," said Yevhen Dykhne, Chief Engineer of the Main Passenger Department of Ukrzaliznytsia. Ukrzaliznytsia also reported that rail passengers are increasingly using the online booking and ticket sales system. Demand for this service has been growing year after year. Thus, in 2009, approximately 83,500 tickets were purchased, in 2010 – 132,500, and in 2011, a record was reached – 693,900 tickets. This year, 363,000 tickets have already been purchased. Thus, since the service was introduced in 2009, more than 1 million train tickets have already been purchased online.
