No more long queues!

Very often, payment systems based onRFID- technology are combined with entrance tickets. One of the UK football clubs, Manchester, has released season tickets with built-in RFID-tags, which allow  quickly pass through turnstiles without creating queues.

Such systems were used at stadiums in Germany during the 2006 World Cup, and one company even developed an RFID system that can clearly determine whether the ball has passed the goal line. The system includes twelve RFID readers located around the perimeter of the stadium. Using a tiny radio frequency tag attached to the ball, the system collected data to calculate its exact position.

In the same way, racetrack operators can track horses running at high speeds. Using RFID-tags, it is possible to accurately determine the moment when a horse's hoof crosses the finish line.

RFID at the Olympic Games

During the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, the capital of the People's Republic of China, RFID technology played a significant role. At this largest world sporting event, approximately 12.2 million entrance tickets were equipped with RFID tags for additional protection against counterfeiting and quick entry into the stadium. Moreover, the city organized a program of vehicle tracking using RFID technology. It continues to operate to this day.
