Mele F10 Air Mouse 4-in-1 – cool thing

In today's article, I decided to continue the topic of universal devices. I really like all kinds of wireless keyboards, mice and universal remote controls, if they can also be used to control a computer. That's why the device called the Mele F10 Deluxe Air Mouse simply struck me with its functionality; after all, this "remote-clave-mouse" combines everything you could dream of. Although this model has long been around and has already become popular online, I was skeptical about the remote's practical use. At least until recently. I first ordered the Mele F10 Deluxe when I needed a universal controller for a PC-based multimedia center. Basically, the main reason for the purchase was an irrepressible interest in seeing how this remote would work with various systems, namely: computers, smart TVs, and Android consoles.

First introduction

The Mele F10 Deluxe comes in the original box with the company logo, and it's of such good quality. You might ask, what's so special about it, because it costs a pretty penny, so the box should fit?!? But sometimes you come across frankly "bad" packaging that's not only for sale, but even embarrassing to hold. The controller comes with a transmitter and a USB charging cable, as well as a short user manual in English. By the way, I strongly advise you to read the manual, or at least look at the pictures, because without it it will be difficult to understand all the functions.

The controller's housing resembles a regular remote control, only with a small keyboard on the other side. The plastic is high-quality, odorless, shiny, and gets dirty quickly. But there are only two options for solving the problem of fingerprints: wipe the remote more often, or wash your hands more often. The F10 Deluxe keyboard is comfortable in your hand and very pleasant to use. In typing mode, as well as when working with the mini-keyboard, it is best to type with both thumbs, so adaptation problems should not arise.

All keys are silicone, as is the navigation joystick (wheel) on the front. The remaining control buttons are plastic, but also very comfortable to use.

Turn it on and go

Connecting the remote control to any compatible device is very simple. First, plug the transmitter into a USB port, then press the "Enter" button until the green light on the side stops flashing. By default, the arrow keys are used, as on a standard remote control. The cursor can be moved in all directions, even diagonally, which greatly simplifies the process of selecting the desired file or folder on the desktop. The keyboard activates automatically when the remote is turned over. In the standard state, it is inactive, so none of the buttons will be accidentally pressed.

You can also enable the "Air Mouse" function. To do this, point the remote control at the TV screen and press the appropriate button (upper right corner). Now the cursor will be controlled not with the arrows, but by turning/tilting the remote control (something like a laser pointer). In fact, where you point the remote control does not matter - the "Air Mouse" function can be activated even by pointing it at a wall. Every movement will be displayed on the screen because the remote control has a gyroscopic system.

Incidentally, the same system is used in games to control the character (RPG). You can use the keys on the keyboard, and you can control your character (preferably in races) by tilting the remote control to the side.

Charging and some nuances

The built-in battery lasts for almost two weeks of frequent use, which in my opinion is a very good result. It charges from a standard USB port on a desktop computer or laptop. According to the manufacturer, the built-in battery has a capacity of 500 mAh, and the remote control fully charges in an hour. When the battery is low, a red LED on the side of the remote control starts flashing. When charged – lights up green.

I also wanted to note that the Mele F10 Deluxe only works after the operating system starts. In other words, if after turning on the device you need to select the operating system, the boot location or simply press a button to continue booting, then the remote control will not work.

To sum up

For its price, the Mele F10 Deluxe universal controller is a real boon for those who use HTPC and Android TV Box. The remote control is also perfect for controlling the computer if it is connected to the TV via HDMI and is in another room. In other words - It's a universal and multifunctional item, so you can take it with confidence.
