When buying a computer, not everyone thinks about the term “TCO” ( total cost of ownership). Which is not typical for everyday use, but quite important for industrial applications.

Specialists in this field know well what this term means.

How much will the total cost of owning a device cost, taking into account not only the cost of the product, but also  maintenance, repair, modernization, electricity consumption and other losses  during operation of the device?

In more detail, I would like to focus on the penultimate paragraph. Just like for a European user, the most significant part of the costs is working with the non-disassembled technique.

So if you bought a modern desktop computer or laptop with a 4-core processor, various extras: TV tuner, with a powerful graphics card and a large hard drive.

Of course, the seller will recommend a computer with a powerful power supply.

But if you multiply this by 60 (the average number of months you use a computer), you get impressive numbers.

It turns out that for this amount of money you could buy another computer or another toy. So what's the secret? What do TCO, Android PC, and home computers have in common?

An expert will tell you that in terms of electricity consumption, a modern computer has a capacity of no less than 500 W, which is equal to half the power of an iron and the combined power of energy-saving lamps (about 50). Our favorite toy consumes as much energy as all the lights on a small city street. So you have to work harder to cover these additional costs.

What's the solution?

The answer is simple: when buying a device, you should always pay attention to energy consumption.

For example, by buying a mini PC with the Android operating system, you get a home computer with the same functions, but with a power consumption of only 10 W, which is even less than a regular energy-saving light bulb.

Now you can have fun all day without turning off the device.

Let the music play and the kids play games. You don't have to pay high electricity bills like TCO. This means the total costs of using the device are lower.
