As part of this solution, RFID-readers of the XR series from Motorola Solutions Inc were installed. The devices were placed in key visibility zones throughout the university gallery, and RFID-tags were attached to all the works of art. A special feature of this protection is that the cameras do not work constantly, but turn on only when the RFID system detects movement. This way, theft or any other incident can be prevented.

The University of Delaware plans to also install this RFID protection system in other parts of campus to enhance security.
