Android Box devices are primarily designed for multimedia playback. They are used to watch movies online or in-store via connected storage devices. However, these functions can be expanded to include traditional television – this requires equipment with a digital TV tuner. Thanks to this, we can quickly switch to watching our favorite channel while browsing the Internet or playing simple games.

In this review, I will describe an Android-Box device called VenBOX ITV-K1 in the version with a digital terrestrial television tuner in the DVB-T2 standard.

Packaging and Kit Contents

The box we received is made of cardboard with a white finish. It consists of a top cover and a bottom connected to the center to hold the cover. A shiny ribbon runs along the entire length of the box, which is an extension of the letter K motif on the top of the packaging. The bottom contains the general specifications of the device. On one of the short sides are graphics of XBMC, the Google Play Store, and the name of the H.265 HEVC codec. The box, with its aesthetic appearance, seems to look nice as a gift.

After removing the top part, we see the center of the box finished in blue. The area is divided into a place for the Android Box (fitted into a cut-out sponge) and a cover for the rest of the accessories. The initially invisible space contains a remote control, power supply, HDMI cable and instructions.

The set includes:

1. VenBOX ITV-K1 with DVB-T2 tuner

Android box in black, made mostly of plastic. The device has a cuboid shape with sharply cut edges at the top. It is slightly larger than the test VenBOX ITV-MXQ. The visible sides and top have a matte surface, while the cut areas are glossy. The K1 model logo is printed on the top.

The diode, which is also the device's power switch, moves from the left edge to the recess at the top. When the device is working normally, it turns bright blue; in sleep mode, it lights up red.

On the left side we have all 4 standard USB ports and a Micro SD card slot. The rest of the connectors are located on the back: antenna input and output, 3.5 jack port (four-pin - stereo image and sound output), RJ45 Ethernet, HDMI input, SPDIF optical audio output and power plug.

The lower part has 4 small rubber feet and numerous holes to facilitate ventilation of the device. A tiny hole at the bottom of the case allows you to press the hidden recovery button. The manufacturer has provided the possibility of hanging the K1 on the wall using two profiled holes.

2. Dedicated remote control

Quite light, made of black plastic - the upper part additionally has a texture resembling brushed aluminum, which prevents fingerprints from being visible on it. The remote is quite long – 17.5 cm – but it has many keys that make it easier to use the decoder's functions. The lowest numeric keys are useful in this case (they also allow for text entry in the style of standard mobile phones).

The remote has a mouse button that switches the remote to cursor control using the arrow keys. This solution isn't as convenient as the Air-Mouse mode used in other controllers, but it can be useful occasionally.

Also worth noting is the DTV button, which instantly launches the TV tuner application. Thanks to this, even a person with no experience in using Android-Box can enjoy watching TV.
