This technology is A simple extension of the contactless card standard (ISO 14443) that combines the smartcard and reader interface into a single device. An NFC-based device can communicate with both existing smartcards and readers of the ISO 14443 standard, as well as with other NFC devices, thus interoperating with the existing contactless card infrastructure already in use in public transportation and payment systems.
