Keller Independent School District, located in Keller, Texas, has chosen Radiant RFID to equip its new pay-per-ride transportation system. Using RFID tags and readers, Radiant's solution will be similar to the city's fare collection system. Combined with the Motorola FX 7400 reader, the Radiant RFID platform records student direction as they enter and exit the bus.
Keller Independent School District, located in the US city of Keller, Texas, chose Radiant RFID to equip its new pay-per-ride transportation system. Using RFID tags and readers, Radiant's solution will be similar to the city's fare control system. Integrated with the Motorola FX 7400 reader, the Radiant RFID platform records student direction as they enter and exit the bus. The bus tracking module determines whether a student has boarded the correct bus, providing school staff with relevant information when needed. Text and email messaging are also supported. The system also monitors students near or in the vicinity of the bus, ensuring that no students are left behind. Together with transportation partner KISD and Durham School Services, Radiant RFID has developed an online portal for parents, where they can register and pay with a credit card before school starts. Payment can be made monthly or by the semester.
The Radiant RFID solution can also be expanded to support applications such as class attendance, access control, asset tracking, cafeteria sales, and emergency calls.
This is not the first example of RFID technology being used to improve student safety. A similar system was recently installed in several schools in Dubai. (Read more)
