Hello, dear visitors of the NBS website! Today in our article we will talk about malfunctions of POS terminals, the causes of their occurrence, what exactly fails, how to avoid it, how much it costs to repair expensive equipment and how "good" is the warranty on this product.

The first question that consumers usually ask: "Which parts of the terminals break and why?" I will answer you as follows: absolutely any part can break or fail, it all depends on how carefully you handle this equipment and how strictly you follow the operating rules. According to the specialists of our service center, the most common calls are about the failure of the following POS-terminals: power supplies, card readers, motherboards, contact screens. These parts break for various reasons, ranging from power surges to careless handling. To avoid these problems, at least immediately before the sale, it's worth thoroughly consulting clients on how to handle the equipment, purchasing an uninterruptible power supply, and establishing control over how employees handle the equipment. For example, people often simply spill tea, coffee, juice, and other "sticky" substances on their terminals, causing them to malfunction. Another problem that arises as a result of "flooding" is cockroaches, which are attracted to sticky and warm places, especially in restaurants and cafes – establishments with a kitchen. As funny as it may sound, these little enemies of technology secrete a certain liquid that corrodes printed circuit boards (conductors), which can lead to complete failure of the component, forcing you to buy a new one. Touchscreens themselves are also often damaged due to the fact that people press them not with fingers, but with ballpoint pens and other stationery.

You might ask, how often do certain components break? Yes, as often as human stupidity allows, since terminals are designed for a long service life, but thanks to the brave workers of the sales industry, their service life is significantly reduced. But where hasn't ours disappeared, there must always be a way out, in our case - a whole year of FREE service. But  is the warranty as effective as it seems?  Many people think it solves all problems, although this is far from true. Warranty service only covers cases when the terminal fails due to a manufacturing defect, and not due to the fault of yet another smart aleck who decided to poke the monitor with a sharpened pencil. So the warranty is not a panacea. By the way, repairing a POS terminal is not a cheap pleasure. Service center fees range from $25 for the repair itself plus parts and up! So, if you want to save time and money, handle your retail equipment with care, as it makes your life much easier.
