All NCR and FlyTech products, represented by NBS, have received RoHS compliance certification.
RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) is a European Union directive that restricts the use of six substances in new electrical and electronic equipment after July 1, 2006.
This European Union directive is just one of a growing number of regulations and rules on environmentally sound technologies. The RoHS Directive complements another European Union directive, known as the WEEE (Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Directive, which concerns the process of recycling equipment and materials after recycling.
Lead (Pb) is one of the most hazardous materials, the use of which is regulated by RoHS. However, eliminating the use of lead is not enough to comply with RoHS regulations. Other prohibited substances besides lead are cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)), bromide compounds PBB (polybrominated biphenyls) and PBDE (polybrominated diphenylethers), which are often used by manufacturers as flame retardant components in electronics.
The RoHS Directive pursues the following goals:
- to reduce pollution and prevent environmental degradation;
- to prevent poisoning by these substances and, as a result, the occurrence of health problems in people working and using electrical equipment and electronics.
