In Ukraine, retail turnover is expected to grow in 2011

Over the first 11 months of 2010, retail turnover in Ukraine grew by 6.8% compared to the same period in 2009, reaching UAH 476.3 billion.

For 11 months of 2010, retail turnover in Ukraine increased by 6.8% compared to the same period in 2009, reaching UAH 476.3 billion.

The increase in the indicator was primarily due to the growth of real wages (+10.2%), as well as improved consumer sentiment (growth in the share of household spending on food and clothing).

In addition, according to experts, domestic demand in Ukraine is recovering against the backdrop of an increase in the volume of consumer loans issued, especially over the past 4 months.

Also, the increase in retail turnover was facilitated by fairly moderate inflation - 9.4% for 11 months of 2010 compared to January-November 2009.

Analysts predict that in 2011, retail turnover in Ukraine will also grow, which will be facilitated by the following factors: a) increased lending by banks to individuals and legal entities engaged in trade; b) an increase in the income of Ukrainians; c) a change in the proportion of expenses and savings in the overall structure of household expenditure.
